Artie Gonzales Releases New Children’s Book to Help Kids Explore and Express Their Emotions
Artie Gonzales spent 21 years in prison for a crime. While he was incarcerated, he struggled with anger, depression, and anxiety. But he also found a way to turn his life around. He started writing about his experiences, and he eventually published a book about his journey. The story was inspired by his story but a children’s story.
Gonzales’ book, “The Adventure of Isolation,” is a children’s book that helps kids explore and express their emotions. The book is full of colorful illustrations and simple stories that teach kids about anger, sadness, fear, and other emotions.
Gonzales says he wrote the book because he wanted to help kids who are struggling with their emotions. He knows firsthand how difficult it can be to cope with difficult emotions, and he wants to offer kids a safe and supportive space to learn and grow.
According to a recent study, 71% of parents believe the pandemic has affected their child’s mental health. The authors of Artie Gonzales and Christie Mann’s new children’s book “Lil’ Artie and the Adventure of Isolation” want to encourage children to express and explore their feelings in a healthy way.
As a result of Gonzales’ own experience, “Lil’ Artie and the Adventure of Isolation” teaches readers how Lil’ Artie feels trapped and isolated.
Gonzales is an expert on the emotion of isolation. At the age of sixteen, he was tried as an adult. The California prison system housed him in a supermax Solitary Confinement unit for eight of the twenty-one years of his life sentence. Through rehabilitation and nonviolence, he evolved past his environment.
During his time in prison, Gonzales served as a model prisoner. Through his involvement in several social justice organizations, he has become a leader in his community. His lifelong dream became a reality after he graduated from ManifestWorks (of which he serves on the Board of Directors). Currently, he is employed in the television and feature film industries.
In order to grow and transform personally, I must maintain a healthy relationship with my emotions. As someone who was primarily viewed through a negative lens as a child, embracing the full gamut of my emotional experience has been incredibly empowering. “It is my emotions that guide me, to help me be my best self.” ~Artie Gonzales
