BET is broadcasting a presentation of the 54th Annual NAACP Image Awards, which hits airwaves in the final week of Black History Month 2023.
The NAACP celebrated the “54th NAACP Image Awards” nominees earlier this month at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The evening, presented by Tyler Perry’s Sistas KJ Smith and Novi Brown, celebrated the many achievements of the many talented persons who had been nominated in more than 70 different genres.
The day included heartfelt tributes, a dance-off amongst nominees, and an inspirational speech from NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson.
“Our nominees excelled in their own fields because they mirrored our plots and told our stories from their own viewpoints. Never has the Black experience been an isolated event. “We are a diversified and lively people, and we must continue to stress the culture and stories to which we’ve contributed,” said Johnson.
At the same time, Ray Wigley did a freestyle performance. Nominees including Loretta Devine, Ruth E. Carter, Wendell Pierce, and Tabitha Brown showed the variety of Hollywood in the annual class photo, which closed the ceremony.
Many famous people, including Adam Blackstone, Joshua Boone, Keith David, William Stanford Davis, Gabrielle Dennis, Loretta Devine, Kevin Fredericks, Jayln Hall, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, Tobe Nwigwe, Carl Payne, Kyla Pratt, Tika Sumpter, Tye Tribbett, and Vanessa Estelle Williams, were there.
On Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 8:00 PM (live ET/PT on delay), BET will broadcast the 54th Annual NAACP Image Awards from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
On February 25, 2023, BET will air the announcement of this year’s NAACP Image Award winners. Non-televised Image Award winners will also be recognized by the NAACP during an Awards Dinner and Program on February 24 as well as on the website, www.naacpimageawards.net, from February 20-23.
