Pioneering Event Merging Culinary and Streetwear Cultures Expands Under Complex, Debuts at ComplexCon Las Vegas 2024
Complex Acquires Family Style Food Festival
Complex, the definitive platform for global youth culture and music lifestyle, has announced its acquisition of the Family Style Food Festival. This pioneering event, established in 2019 by Ben Shenassafar, Bobby Kim of The Hundreds, and Miles Canares, is celebrated for its unique fusion of food, fashion, and entertainment. The partnership will merge two industry powerhouses, promising unparalleled experiences and exclusive collaborations for fans.
Family Style Food Festival quickly gained fame for its innovative blend of culinary and streetwear cultures. Featuring a curated lineup of top chefs, restaurants, brands, and entertainers, the festival attracts over 10,000 attendees annually. Notable participants have included culinary stars like Evan Funke and Majordomo, alongside brands such as Shake Shack, Community Goods Cafe, and Broad Street Oyster. The festival’s influence extends to streetwear icons like Pokémon, Takashi Murakami, and Billionaire Boys Club.
With Complex’s acquisition, Family Style will become Complex’s new food-focused vertical, delivering the latest in culture and food news. The festival is set to expand significantly in Los Angeles, explore new markets, and debut at ComplexCon 2024 in Las Vegas this November.
Aaron Levant, CEO of Complex, expressed his excitement, saying, “The festival aligns perfectly with our mission to redefine how fans interact with their favorite chefs, brands, and artists. We are excited to take Family Style to new heights and bring its highly sought-after collaborations to our fans worldwide.”
Family Style is renowned for its exclusive, collaborative food and merchandise items. Over the years, it has partnered with streetwear and culinary giants for unique offerings, such as Jon & Vinny’s x Off-White and Katz’s Deli x Anti Social Social Club. These collaborations are highly prized by both streetwear and food enthusiasts.
Co-founders Ben Shenassafar and Miles Canares shared their enthusiasm about the partnership. “With Complex’s support, we’re excited to expand Family Style into a media platform, becoming the definitive voice for all things food and culture,” Shenassafar stated. Canares added, “Complex has played a big role in my life as a fan of fashion, music, and art. Being welcomed into the family means so much.”
