GNYADA’s Annual Initiative Aims to Raise $100,000 for New Winter Coats, Bringing Warmth to Vulnerable Children in the Metro New York Area
As winter’s chill descends upon the metropolitan New York area, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) has once again embarked on its annual Winter Coat Drive for Kids, a crucial initiative aimed at providing warmth and comfort to children in need during the cold season.
The GNYADA, under the leadership of President Mark Schienberg, is striving to raise over $100,000 to purchase new winter coats for children facing the harsh reality of winter without adequate clothing. Recognizing the significance of their role in the community beyond providing transportation solutions, GNYADA members are committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the lives of those in need.
“Automobile dealers recognize their role as pillars within local communities beyond supplying the transportation needs of their customers,” stated GNYADA President Mark Schienberg. “GNYADA members involved deserve commendation for consistently supporting initiatives focused on improving lives throughout their neighborhoods.”
The Helms Auto Group, represented by Vice Presidents Kirstin Callahan Austin and Sean Callahan, along with General Manager Suzanne Cochrane, kickstarted the campaign by presenting a generous donation of $10,000 at Volvo Cars of Queens. This act symbolizes the dealership’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
The launch event at Volvo Cars of Queens saw the attendance of local legislators, officials, and children who will directly benefit from the initiative. NYC Councilwoman Vickie Paladino emphasized the importance of collaborations like these to ensure that no child is left without proper winter clothing during harsh weather conditions. Representative Mitchel Wu from Queens Community Center – Chinese-American Planning Council expressed gratitude for this meaningful gesture that supports vulnerable children within their community.
GNYADA is collaborating with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit dedicated to manufacturing high-quality coats designed specifically for children in need, to execute the Winter Coat Drive. This strategic partnership enhances the impact of the initiative, ensuring that the donated funds directly contribute to providing warmth and protection to those who need it most.
With over 550,000 children living below the poverty line in the metropolitan area, the Winter Coat Drive becomes a lifeline for vulnerable families striving to provide adequate winter clothing for their kids. Representatives from organizations such as The Child Center of NY/Head Start Corona and The Academy Charter Schools highlighted the crucial role warm coats play in providing physical warmth, boosting confidence, and contributing to a sense of belonging among students.
