A Global Platform for Creators with NFT Voting, Digital Wallets, and a Path to the Oscars®
The future of short filmmaking is here. Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious short film festivals—and an Academy Awards® accredited event—has officially opened its global call for entries for 2026 starting Friday, August 1. For the first time ever in Japan, every submitting creator will automatically receive a digital wallet to access a suite of Web3 services including NFT-based voting and content trading, turning the act of submission into a launchpad for blockchain-driven creative communities.
Submissions will be accepted exclusively through LIFE LOG BOX (LLB), a cutting-edge content rights management platform powered by Visual Voice. Through LLB, filmmakers not only gain festival access but also step into a growing DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) ecosystem, where creators, audiences, and festival organizers engage in transparent, automated collaboration using blockchain technology.
🎬 A Direct Path to the Academy Awards®
Winning films in Live Action, Non-Fiction, and Animation will be eligible for recommendation to the Academy Awards® Short Film categories, offering filmmakers a direct shot at global recognition. Beyond these core categories, SSFF & ASIA also embraces innovation and niche creativity with competitions in:
- Cinematic Tokyo: Stories centered on Tokyo’s culture and landscape.
- BRANDED SHORTS: Corporate and government-backed branded films.
- Special Features: Genres including Food, Art, Vertical Format, Horror, and Comedy.
- BOOK SHORTS: Open to short stories, comics, and screenplays.
Even short-form content from YouTube and TikTok is eligible, breaking down traditional barriers and giving viral creators an opportunity to shine on the big screen.
SSFF & ASIA’s history of pushing creative boundaries includes awards highlighting DIVERSITY, Environment, and SOUND. The 2026 edition promises to raise the bar even higher—connecting visionary filmmakers with an international audience and the powerful tools of Web3.
