Bringing Digital Identity to the Palm of Your Hand
Samsung ID with CLEAR Lets Travelers Add Their U.S. Passport to Samsung Wallet for Faster, More Secure Airport Checkpoints
The future of digital identity has officially arrived. Through a new partnership between CLEAR and Samsung Electronics America, Samsung Galaxy users can now create and store a TSA-approved digital identity directly within Samsung Wallet. The new feature, known as Samsung ID with CLEAR, allows eligible travelers to verify their identity using only their smartphone, eliminating the need to pull out a physical ID at participating airport security checkpoints.
The launch marks a significant step forward for digital travel experiences. By combining CLEAR’s secure identity verification platform with Samsung Wallet’s growing ecosystem of digital credentials, users can move through airport security with greater convenience while maintaining strong privacy and security protections.
A Digital Passport for Modern Travel
At the center of the announcement is the ability for U.S. passport holders to securely add their passport information to Samsung Wallet. Once verified through CLEAR’s identity platform, travelers can use their Samsung ID with CLEAR at more than 250 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints across the United States.
Instead of searching through a wallet or carry-on bag for identification, travelers can simply tap their phone or present a QR code to verify their identity.
The result is a faster and more seamless airport experience, particularly during busy travel periods when every minute matters.
“CLEAR’s secure identity verification platform makes experiences safer and easier, both physically and digitally,” said Caryn Seidman Becker, CEO of CLEAR. “Samsung ID with CLEAR gives users a simple, secure ID in the palm of their hand and helps travelers win the day of travel.”
Samsung Wallet Continues to Expand
The introduction of Samsung ID with CLEAR further expands Samsung Wallet’s role as a centralized destination for digital essentials. Beyond payment cards, passes, and digital keys, Samsung Wallet now supports government-backed digital identity credentials designed for real-world use.
According to Samsung, the integration demonstrates the company’s commitment to creating technology that simplifies everyday life.
“We’re thrilled to partner with CLEAR to bring CLEAR ID to Samsung Wallet,” said Woncheol Chai, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team for Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business. “Integrating passports into Samsung Wallet demonstrates our ongoing dedication to creating technology that truly makes life easier for our users.”
By allowing travelers to rely on secure digital credentials instead of physical identification documents, Samsung continues to position Wallet as a comprehensive digital companion.
Beyond Airports: Stadium Entry and Age Verification
The benefits of Samsung ID with CLEAR extend beyond airport security.
The digital credential can already be used for age verification at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with additional sports and entertainment venues expected to adopt the technology in the future.
As major venues increasingly seek faster, contactless verification methods, digital identity solutions could play an important role in improving guest experiences while enhancing security.
“BMO Stadium is proud to be among the select venues leading the adoption of mobile digital identity verification,” said Christian Lau, Chief Technology Officer at BMO Stadium. “Our guests can move through the venue faster and more securely.”
The timing is notable as Los Angeles prepares to welcome millions of visitors for major international sporting events throughout 2026 and beyond.

Privacy Remains a Priority
As digital identity adoption grows, privacy remains a major concern for consumers. CLEAR emphasized that users remain in control of their personal information throughout the verification process.
The company states that it does not sell biometric data or sensitive personal information and continues to prioritize privacy-focused identity management practices.
With more than 41 million members worldwide and an expanding partner network, CLEAR views secure digital identity as a cornerstone of the future travel ecosystem.
The Bigger Picture
The launch of Samsung ID with CLEAR represents more than a convenience feature. It signals a broader shift toward trusted digital identity solutions that can reduce friction across travel, entertainment, commerce, and everyday life.
As airports, stadiums, and government agencies increasingly embrace digital credentials, carrying a smartphone may soon be all travelers need to prove who they are.
For Samsung users, that future starts today.
