Gabriel & Co. Celebrates 10 Years of Saving Lives with DKMS
Through the Gabriel Love Foundation, the renowned jewelry brand celebrates a decade of compassion, community engagement, and its commitment to helping patients battling blood cancer find a lifesaving match.
Jewelry has always been associated with life’s most meaningful moments. From engagements and anniversaries to celebrations of personal milestones, a beautiful piece of jewelry often carries a story far beyond its sparkle. But for Gabriel & Co., some of the most valuable things in life cannot be measured in diamonds or gold. They are measured in hope, compassion, and the opportunity to give someone a second chance at life.
This year, the award-winning fine jewelry and bridal brand celebrates 10 years of partnership with DKMS, an international nonprofit dedicated to fighting blood cancer and blood disorders. Through its philanthropic initiative, the Gabriel Love Foundation, the company has spent a decade using its influence to inspire generosity, encourage blood stem cell donor registration, and bring hope to individuals and families facing life-threatening illnesses.
And as someone who believes businesses have a responsibility to make meaningful contributions to the communities they serve, I find this partnership particularly inspiring.
When a Personal Journey Becomes a Powerful Mission
Behind many meaningful philanthropic efforts is a personal story, and the Gabriel family’s connection to DKMS is no exception.
For Christine Gabriel, wife of Gabriel & Co. co-founder Dominick Gabriel and a representative of the Gabriel Love Foundation, the mission is deeply personal.
“DKMS will always hold a special place in my heart because I know firsthand what it means to need a match,” Christine shared. “When I was diagnosed, finding a donor was a matter of life and hope for my family and me.”
Her experience helped transform a family’s personal struggle into a sustained commitment to helping others.
What began as a journey filled with uncertainty has blossomed into a decade of advocacy, awareness, and opportunities to make a difference.
“Ten years later, I’m incredibly proud that what began as a personal journey has grown into a lasting commitment to helping other families find hope,” she added.
There is something incredibly powerful about taking one of life’s most challenging experiences and using it to help another family facing similar circumstances.
Ten Years of Partnership, One Lifesaving Purpose
To celebrate the milestone, Gabriel & Co. organized several initiatives designed to bring its employees, customers, and broader community closer to the DKMS mission.
On October 13, the company hosted an employee donor registration drive at its offices, providing team members with the opportunity to register as potential blood stem cell donors.
The company also launched a digital donor drive, inviting members of the public to participate from the comfort of their homes. Eligible individuals can register online and receive a cheek swab kit by mail, making the first step toward potentially saving someone’s life remarkably accessible.
For patients battling certain blood cancers and other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell transplant can offer a critical treatment opportunity. However, finding a compatible donor is not always easy, particularly when a suitable match cannot be found within a patient’s family.
Every eligible person who joins the donor registry represents another potential opportunity for someone searching for a match.
That is why awareness and participation matter.
“Giving back has always been at the heart of who we are as a company, and our partnership with DKMS has been one of the most meaningful parts of that journey,” said Dominick Gabriel, co-founder of Gabriel & Co.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging employees, customers, and the community to learn more about donor registration and the difference one individual can potentially make.
A Night of Purpose: The DKMS Gala Raises More Than $2.3 Million
The anniversary celebration also extended to the annual DKMS Gala on October 15, where Gabriel & Co. joined philanthropists, advocates, and supporters committed to the fight against blood cancer.
The black-tie event, which marked the 20th anniversary of the DKMS New York Gala, raised more than $2.3 million to support the organization’s global lifesaving mission.
Beyond the elegant evening and fundraising achievements, the event underscored the extraordinary impact that collective compassion can have on individuals and families worldwide.
Katharina Harf, Global Chairman of DKMS, reflected on the milestone and the supporters who have helped advance the organization’s mission.
“I am deeply grateful to the community that has stood beside us for two decades, turning hope into second chances at life,” Harf said.
The message was clear: progress against blood cancer requires more than medical innovation. It also requires awareness, committed advocates, and people willing to help.
Jewelry with a Purpose: A New DKMS Collection
Gabriel & Co. is also commemorating the partnership by introducing a new DKMS jewelry collection, further connecting its craftsmanship with its commitment to philanthropy.
For a company whose creations symbolize love, family, and meaningful connections, the collection represents a natural extension of its values.
The initiative continues the brand’s tradition of using jewelry to bring attention to causes supported through the Gabriel Love Foundation.
Established in 2016, the foundation reflects Gabriel & Co.’s belief that its legacy should extend beyond beautiful designs to include meaningful contributions to society.
Founded in New York City in 1989 by brothers Jack and Dominick Gabriel, the family-owned business has grown into a nationally recognized jewelry brand. Yet its commitment to personal connections and giving back remains central to its identity.
The Most Beautiful Gift May Be the One That Saves a Life
As I reflect on this anniversary, what stands out most is the reminder that philanthropy does not always require extraordinary wealth or grand gestures.
Sometimes, making a difference begins with something as simple as learning about a cause, sharing information with others, or registering to become a potential donor.
For someone waiting for a compatible stem cell donor, that small action could eventually mean everything.
Gabriel & Co.’s decade-long relationship with DKMS demonstrates what can happen when a business takes its commitment to community seriously and sustains that commitment year after year.
Ten years of partnership is worth celebrating, but the real beauty of this anniversary lies in the lives that may be touched in the years ahead.
Because the most precious gift we can ever offer someone isn’t something we wear. It’s the possibility of more time, more memories, and more life.
